Fort Lauderdale, Florida • Quiz Pampering Rookie or Pro? The 10-Question Fort Lauderdale Spa, Nail Salon and House Cleaner Quiz Do you know what a Russian manicure really is? What happens if you cancel a massage on the morning of the appointment? Do you need to stay home while the cleaners work? Grab a pen, keep score and find out how you rank. Then send it to the friend who always shows up late to the spa. Every answer here comes from the published policies and menus of three real Fort Lauderdale businesses, not from generic internet advice. They are Lifestream Spa, a day spa in the Lauderdale Beach neighborhood; Palm Nail Lounge, a nail salon in Galt Mile; and MaidPro Fort Lauderdale, a house-cleaning company based in Lauderdale Manors. We read their websites on October 8, 2026, and each business is credited in the answers. Other businesses set their own rules, so treat these as real-world examples, not universal law. How to play: read each question, pick A, B or C, then check the answer below it. Give yourself one point for every correct answer. Round 1: The spa day Question 1. You want firm, deep pressure in your 60-minute massage at Lifestream Spa. What does the upgrade cost? A) About more B) About more C) Nothing extra Answer: C. Lifestream’s massage page says deep tissue work is “always included” at no additional cost. Your therapist adjusts pressure to what you ask for, so the only thing you need to do is speak up. If the pressure is too much or too little halfway through, say so. That is not rude; it is how a custom massage is supposed to work. Question 2. It is your first visit. How early does Lifestream ask you to arrive? A) Right on time B) 10 minutes early C) 20 minutes early Answer: C. First-time guests are asked to come 20 minutes early to fill out a short confidential intake form, and returning guests 15 minutes early. Here is the twist that catches people out: the spa says late arrivals end at the regularly scheduled time without a rate adjustment. Arrive late and you pay for a full hour but get a shorter one. Question 3. Something comes up and you cancel on the morning of your appointment. What happens at Lifestream? A) Nothing, as long as you call B) You are billed 50% C) You are billed 100% Answer: B. Lifestream has what it calls a strict same-day cancellation policy. Same-day cancellations or reschedules are billed 50%, and no-shows who do not call are billed 100%. If your week is unpredictable, cancel or move the booking the day before. Question 4. You are relaxing in the lounge before your facial. Is it fine to catch up on texts? A) Yes, quietly B) Only on silent C) No, put it away Answer: C. Lifestream’s policies ask every guest to refrain from using cell phones in the spa. Guests come for quiet, and one person’s screen glow and buzzing can take it away from everyone else. Put the phone in your locker or bag and enjoy being unreachable for an hour. Question 5. You and four friends book a spa celebration with five services in total. What is different about the bill? A) A 20% gratuity is added automatically B) A group discount is applied C) Nothing changes Answer: A. On its packages page Lifestream says a 20% gratuity is added to parties with five or more services and bookings of four or more services require a 50% deposit. For individual visits, gratuity is not added; the spa says 20% is customary and left to your discretion. Also note the 2.75% surcharge on credit card payments; debit cards used with a PIN are excluded. Planning a group? Lifestream offers a fruit-and-cheese platter for .95 a head. Round 2: The nail chair Question 6. On Palm Nail Lounge’s menu, what makes a “Russian” manicure different? A) It is done with Russian-made polish B) It is a dry manicure using precision e-file work C) It is a manicure without any cuticle work Answer: B. Palm describes its Palm Precision Russian Manicure as an advance
